I bought this book over a year ago. I've read through each project a dozen times. I love about 94% of them. Our house sits on a lot that is ~ 100 feet x ~ 120 feet. I was going to get crazy this spring and summer with a new patio, arbor, and several garden areas.



Sometime a couple of months ago, my book disappeared. I have searched nearly every square inch of our attic and basement, in addition to every closet, underneath every bed, and even in the garage. My wife has looked as well, but to no avail.



I'm 32 years old, and losing this book has nearly made me cry on at least four occassions. It's that good.



Our library doesn't have it. None of the hardware stores in town have it. We have one bookstore in town - and they don't have it. Last weekend, I finally broke down and bought two other books, thinking that by doubling up it would somehow take away the pain of losing my B&D Creative Landscapes book.



It hasn't worked.



I'm purchasing another copy on line this afternoon. There are just too many things in the book that I can't find anywhere else. It's nothing that difficult, but they do such a great job of making things easy to follow, and each project gives you ideas for three more.



Buy the book. Buy two copies. And be sure to hide one in your drawer where no one can take it.

This woman makes it look so so easy. I had to have this tape for my own. I had borrowed it so many times from the library that they were thinking of putting my picture on the box alongside Debbie's. This has been my daughter's favorite toy since we got it for her at about two months old. The colors are really fun on the front, then the back of the wings are black and white. It has a squeaker on one wing, which now cracks her up. The wings crinkle and there are little teething rings attached to the bottom by a short elastic band. This toy has entertained my daughter for hours, and there aren't any signs of her losing interest even now at seven months. In my mind a must-have. :)

I ordered Freddy the Firefly, Jacques the Peacock & Stretch the Giraffe for my grandson who will be born in May 08.



All 3 toys are similar: they all have embroidered eyes, a bell or rattle inside them and one puffy squeaker or squeaker foot and crinkly areas, soft textures, a clasp hook at the top that is stiff plastic and bright colors.



Freddy has rings on his tail and a nubby red raspberry hanging from a green string off his right wing that appears to be a teether. He also has a small mirror on his right wing that reflects, but distorts shapes.



His body jingles when shaken. His squeaker is a puffy ball on his left lower wing. His backside has black/white polka dots and b/w wavy lines.



Based on the pics of babies holding the toy, I though Freddy would be alot bigger. He is a medium sized toy about the size of paperbook book.



I'm satisfied with the toy, but will be buying other textured toys for a variety of stimuli and sensations for the baby to enjoy.

Leather Furniture Care: How To Protect Your Investment

For centuries leather has been used for its functionality as well as its prestige. Back in the dark ages, hides were being used for warmth and protection in the form of crude coats and makeshift shoes. Today we have perfected the tanning process making leather the strongest and longest lasting upholstery material. Most reputable leather furniture companies use leather that has been preserved in the tanning process. Properly tanned leather can last up to four times longer than most any other upholstery fabric. Given its durability and the pure elegance of leather furniture, you can most assuredly be prepared to spend a bit more for it. The good news is leather requires very little care.



Here are some important steps you can take to help protect your leather furniture:



Probably the most important thing to remember is to clean stains immediately! If you do not, the stain can reappear weeks or months later. Just use mild soap and warm water.



Keep your furniture away from heat sources. At least two feet is recommended. Leather can become dried out if exposed for long periods.



Avoid direct sunlight. This will prevent fading.



To dust use a clean cloth with a small amount of leather cleaner.



Never use saddle soap, furniture polish, oil, varnish, abrasive or ammonia based cleansers.



All leather furniture needs reconditioning on a regular basis. This process replaces the natural hide oils that dry out and cause the leather to crack.



Please note the above is for preventative maintenance and you may have a specific problem which may call for more action. Cleaning leather furniture can be tricky and you should always do a spot test to check for color fastness. If it is something major like scrapes, cuts, holes or grease and oil stains it is recommended that you seek professional assistance.



Take the time to get to know your furniture. Look for differences in grade of leather, type of dye and finishing. Your furniture retailer should be able to supply you with this information. If you take care of your leather furniture, it will last at least 20 years.
